    This is a great novel and well worth a read. This would have got 5 stars except for the editing. Given that this is released by a major publishing house, the number of errors was ridiculous. They would never release a printed version like this; but, as we are paying print prices, we should expect the same standard here. Come on HC - try harder.

    This book is one of the reasons I am a fan of Tom Clancy's work. Hunt for Red October is a great read. There a no lulls or low points in the book - all plots intertwine seamlessly to fulfil the readers desire to escape from the monotony of life through the medium of books. I've been a fan of submarines and naval history since I was a kid - this book, to me therefore, offers two of my favourite things in life (submarines in books of course!) :o) To quote another of my favourite writers: "They say it's an artist's job is to captivate you for however long they've got your attention..." Tom Clancy did this, and then some. He well deserves the success he has gained, and long may it continue. Can I just add, so glad it was an eBook. I've been itching to read one on my new iPad 2 and I have now - thanks! :o)

    Would obviously give the book itself 5 stars, but there were so many weird punctuation and spelling mistakes in it left me wondering if this was an official release.
  • An absolute classic

    The Hunt for Red October is one of that rare breed - a suspense novel that remains exciting even when read for the hundredth time. The sheer level of detail in Clancy's writing is incredible - though your head is telling you it's a work of fiction, your heart continues to insist "This could be real". I'm not entirely happy giving this book five stars, for the simple reason that ideally, I'd like to give it six.

    First I would like to say this is one he'll of an adventure, it really grips you. Having said that and having read the paperback, I have noticed the absence and noticed the ( what I would call heavy) editing of this book for the IBook version, especially where Red October goes through ' Red Route One ' , I found it virtually non existent. I do hope this is not something that is endemic when purchasing booked from iBooks. Let's have the WHOLE. Book in entirety, we pay for the privilege after all. Paul.

    It was actually one of the few Jack Ryan series novels I had not read, and yet it was the film of this book that got me into the series of novels in the first place. It did not disappoint and filled in some of the background for some of the later novels as well as being a great read.
