    Reading online I have read and followed every character with excitement, enthralled by every twist and turn of events. Grounded firmly in the known history of Elizabethan europe we are led through a paralel fictional family history and its heroes for fabulous subplots of intrigue. I am now wondering how to share this book with my family who I know would also love to read it.

    A History sprinkled with fictitious characters and places which enable the reader to loosely join up the different periods. Easy reading but none the less gripping. Really enjoyable.

    The Pillars of the Earth and World Without End went hand in hand following life centred around Kingsbridge and I have lost count of the times I have read them. I was excited to get A Column of Fire but that excitement soon faded due to the book only vaguely being linked to the original theme of Kingsbridge and its inhabitants through time. For me this could be any of a number of books that make occasional mention of the fictional town of Kingsbridge. I finally gave up on it and have cast it aside as what I consider “unrelated” and should not be considered part of a trilogy, I’m not sure what happened with Mr Follet when he wrote this but for me he lost the plot...pardon the pun!

    I have been waiting for this book to arrive and it did not disappoint me. Ken Follett has to be the best historical writer out there. A brilliant book and I cannot recommend it enough. I am sad it has come to an end.

    A wonderful gripping novel with an intriguing plot interwoven into real history. This is the beauty of Ken Follett books. This, his latest, is without doubt up amongst his best. A story you cannot put down, characters you feel you know, both good and bad, you want to reach the end but don't want it to finish ... tragedy and success ... joy and sorrow, all the emotions are part of the story that makes it so real. You end the book wanting to know if the story will continue ...
